Course Project 1.2- Google Sites for Projects

My third article is titled, “Use Google Sites for Your Next Classroom Project.” By John Sowash. Immediately Sowash mentions the difference from the projects he was asked to complete as opposed to the ones students are doing today. He hints that the projects of his generation are obsolete and using Google Slides is helping students to cultivate a 21st Century Skill, building a website. He even goes on to mention how his own children, ages 8, 10, and 12 all built their own site, and he links them in the article thus proving that anyone at any age can use Google Site, especially students. Sowash suggests that the teacher should start by building one first to help students get theirs off the ground. When the teacher feels ready to let students explore Sowash suggests choosing an individual or a group project. He even mentions doing a classroom website that can be edited by the whole class! The last thing Sowash mentions is that students will take more pride in a project that has an audience. By audience, he means family, friends, teacher, and peers. Students will hopefully put in more effort if they know they will have to present it in front of others.

As this digital age takes over, we are reminded just like the author that our old school projects don’t have to away, they just need to be upgraded to an online platform.
